Kosovo wins nine medals at Mediterranean Games, secures 2030 hosting rights

Kosovo concluded its participation in the 20th Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, with a record-breaking performance. The delegation, consisting of 163 athletes, secured nine medals: two gold, three silver, and four bronze. The gold medals were earned by karateka Islam Selmani and boxer Donjeta Sadiku. Silver medals were won by judoka Laura Fazliu and weightlifter Kianoush Rostami, while four bronze medals were awarded in judo to Akil Gjakova, Shpati Zekaj, Fatjona Kasapi, and Flaka Loxha.

In the overall standings, Kosovo ranked 15th among the 25 nations that earned medals. During the closing ceremony, the Mediterranean Games flag was officially handed over to the Mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama. This symbolic transfer marks Prishtina as the host city for the next edition of the Mediterranean Games, scheduled for 2030.
