Kostis Hadjidakis joins EU alliance to reduce bureaucracy
Greek Vice President Kostis Hadjidakis traveled to Brussels to participate in a seminar aimed at establishing an ‘Alliance for the Reduction of Bureaucracy’ among EU member states. The initiative, led by the Austrian government, seeks to foster cooperation to simplify legislation and reduce administrative burdens for citizens, businesses, and public services.
Hadjidakis presented the Greek experience in administrative reform, highlighting the success of the gov.gr platform, which offers over 2,000 digital services and served 9 million citizens. He also discussed reforms regarding the acceleration of pension distributions and the ‘state more friendly to citizens’ law.
The meeting included representatives from 16 EU member states, including EU Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis and ministers from Belgium, Italy, and Germany. Participants aim to adopt a joint declaration focusing on ‘simplicity by design,’ systematic impact studies, and the avoidance of unnecessary national requirements when integrating EU directives.
