Koton Karfe Monarch demands urgent repairs to Lokoja-Abuja Highway

The Ohimegye Igu of Koton Karfe, Dr. Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu, has called on the Federal Ministry of Works to urgently address the deteriorating state of the Lokoja-Abuja Federal Highway. Following a resolution by the Traditional Council, the monarch visited the Ministry in Lokoja to demand intervention before the upcoming ‘Ember months’.

Salihu highlighted several critical sections requiring immediate repair, including stretches between Chikara and Abaji, Aseni and Omoko, the Idu Bridge, and the diversion in Koton Karfe. He warned that the current road conditions are causing severe gridlock, economic hardship, and increased risks of fatal accidents. The monarch emphasized that while full completion of the highway is the long-term goal, fixing specific trouble spots would provide immediate relief to motorists and residents.
