Croatia and Montenegro authorities conduct major enforcement operations

In Croatia, the State Inspectorate discovered an unregistered meat processing facility near Drniš containing approximately 9,800 kilograms of meat products, including 960 prosciutto pieces. Due to a lack of documentation regarding the origin and traceability of the products, which were sourced both domestically and from abroad, authorities ordered the destruction of the goods. Croatian Minister of Agriculture David Vlajčić noted that the scale of the operation suggests an established production cycle and raised concerns regarding the potential spread of African swine fever.

Separately, maritime authorities in Montenegro conducted intensive safety inspections along the coast between August 1 and August 8. During 126 controls performed by the Bar and Kotor port captaincies, inspectors issued fines totaling 45,900 euros and temporarily seized nine boats due to serious or repeated violations. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs emphasized that these measures aim to prevent accidents and protect lives during the peak nautical season.
