Kotor, Montenegro celebrates 24th International Summer Carnival
The three‑day 24th International Summer Kotor Carnival concluded with a large parade that featured carnival queen Tea Grgurević and capo Luka Knezović, followed by representatives of the Federation of European Carnival Cities. About 20 carnival groups performed, including participants from Greece, Macedonia, Croatia and other regional cities, showcasing elaborate masks and choreographed routines.
For the first time in 24 years the parade entered Kotor’s Old Town, after a route change that took the procession through the main city boulevard onto a plaza before moving into the historic area. The festivities continued with concerts by the Ensemble Toć and the band Cubalcanica. The event received recognition from the European carnival federation, a “Memoria vivit” plaque was presented to municipal assembly president Vojin Batuti, and special medals were awarded to Vasilije Bajrović, president of the local cultural association NVU "Fešta".
