Kozani municipality completes road upgrade from Drepano to Akri

The municipal road linking Drepano, Agios Dimitrios and Akri in the Kozani region is being resurfaced and reinforced to improve traffic safety after extensive wear caused by heavy‑vehicle traffic. The project, titled “Improvement of Road Conditions Drepano‑Agios Dimitrios‑Akri,” has a study budget of €250,000 and is financed by the Western Macedonia Regional Authority.

Mayor Yiannis Kokkalarias and Western Macedonia Governor George Amonatidis visited the works on 18 June 2026, accompanied by regional and municipal officials. The 1.6‑km stretch, from the Three Bridges point to the southern field, is expected to be completed within the next few days, with the municipality and regional technical services coordinating the effort.

The upgrade aims to enhance road durability and protect human lives in the broader Ellispontos area, reflecting close cooperation between local and regional administrations.
