KP Province Secures Federal Deal to Reopen CNG Stations

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a committee to address the compressed natural gas (CNG) crisis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The province, which produces about 508 million cubic feet per day of natural gas, has seen many stations closed, causing hardship for millions and dampening economic activity. Kundi said, “KP is producing nearly 508 million cubic feet per day… yet our people continue to face unnecessary hardship.”

Following negotiations between the federal and provincial governments, an agreement was reached to reopen the closed CNG stations and to provide the province with an additional 35 million cubic feet per day of gas. The deal is intended to restore affordable fuel supply and alleviate the ongoing crisis.
