KPAI launches SIMEP PA system to strengthen child protection

The Indonesian Commission for Child Protection (KPAI) has launched the third generation of the Child Protection Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting System (SIMEP PA) in Jakarta. The new system is designed to provide effective oversight of child protection implementation by both central and regional governments.

SIMEP PA focuses on three primary dimensions: regulation, capacity (including human resources and budget), and service accountability. The system aims to monitor civil rights, health, education, social welfare, alternative care, and the juvenile justice system to ensure transparency and data accountability.

KPAI Chairman Aris Adi Leksono noted that the tool seeks to address gaps in existing programs and services despite high complaint volumes. Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection Arifah Fauzi reported that her ministry handled 35,920 cases throughout 2025, attributing the high number to increased courage among victims to report incidents.
