KPK investigates DPRD members in Pemalang extortion case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is expanding its investigation into an extortion case involving the inactive Regent of Pemalang, Anom Widiyantoro. Investigators suspect that members of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) in Central Java and Pemalang Regency may have acted as intermediaries in the scheme.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that several council members have been summoned for questioning to determine their involvement. This follows a sting operation in July 2026 that led to the naming of Anom Widiyantoro and his associate, Mohamad Haris, as suspects. It is alleged that Haris collected approximately Rp1.98 billion from regional officials and private parties for Anom’s personal use.

In a related development, the KPK has also rescheduled the examination of Noor Faizah Maenofie, the wife of Anom Widiyantoro, who serves as a hospital supervisory board member and a community health center head. She is being questioned as a witness in the ongoing investigation.
