KPK corruption investigations in Indonesia
Overview
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is conducting multiple investigations into corruption, bribery, and extortion within Indonesian regional government structures.
In Lamongan, investigators are examining alleged corruption related to the construction of the Lamongan Regency Government building between 2017 and 2019. The probe focuses on suspected “flag borrowing” (pinjam bendera) practices involving a consortium including PT Brantas Abipraya, where a consortium allegedly served only to meet tender requirements while work was actually performed by a suspect's company. This case has reportedly resulted in state losses of approximately Rp35.7 billion.
In Pemalang Regency, Central Java, the KPK is expanding its investigation into extortion following a sting operation on July 28, 2026. One branch involves former Regent Anom Widiyantoro and associate Mohamad Haris, who are suspects in a scheme to extort approximately Rp1.98 billion from regional officials and private parties. Investigators are looking into whether fees were required for job promotions, rotations, or mutations.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that several members of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) in Central Java and Pemalang Regency have been summoned to determine if they acted as intermediaries. Additionally, the KPK has rescheduled the examination of Noor Faizah Maenofie, the wife of Anom Widiyantoro, who is being questioned as a witness.
A second cluster involves allegations that Setya Budi Dias Oktavianto, a police officer assigned to the KPK, provided information to his father, Lilik Budi Suprianto, who then allegedly solicited money from Anom by offering assistance with legal matters.
