Unsoed Rector Akhmad Sodiq named suspect in admission corruption case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named six individuals as suspects in a corruption case involving the student admission process at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed). The suspects include Rector Akhmad Sodiq, Vice Rector III Norman Arie Prayoga, and Academic Head Eko Sumanto, alongside three private sector intermediaries: Dian Mulia Wardhana, Adhi Wiharto, and Mulyono.
The investigation revealed three primary clusters of misconduct: extortion involving a Rp 650 million demand to the parents of a prospective medical student, the receipt of Rp 680 million in gratifications, and the collection of Rp 1.12 billion by the Academic Head. Investigators also noted potential links between these admissions irregularities and the awarding of university physical projects.
Following the detention of Akhmad Sodiq, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) appointed Prof. Ali Rokhman as Acting Rector to ensure academic continuity. The Ministry stated it respects the ongoing legal process and is monitoring the situation to maintain institutional integrity.
