Kragujevac Northern Bypass opens first five-kilometer phase

The first five-kilometer phase of the Northern Bypass around Kragujevac has been opened to traffic. This initial section runs from the Jovanovac interchange to the Petrovac interchange.

Constructed by Putevi Srbije, this phase includes two interchanges, three underpasses, one bridge, and two diversions for municipal roads in the Jovanovac and Petrovac settlements. The total project aims to create a 22-kilometer expressway designed for speeds up to 100 km/h, intended to divert transit traffic—particularly heavy freight—away from the city center.

Work is ongoing for the remaining two phases of the project. The complete bypass is expected to be finished by late January 2028, with an estimated state investment of approximately 270 million euros. Once completed, the bypass is expected to facilitate the development of a new 150-hectare industrial zone.
