Kragujevac Northern Bypass construction

Overview

The first five-kilometer phase of the Northern Bypass in Kragujevac has been opened to traffic. This initial section, constructed by Putevi Srbije, connects the Jovanovac interchange to the Petrovac interchange and includes two interchanges, three underpasses, one bridge, and two municipal road diversions.

The broader project aims to create a 22-kilometer expressway capable of speeds up to 100 km/h to divert heavy freight and transit traffic away from the city center. The complete bypass is expected to be finished by late January 2028, with an estimated state investment of approximately 270 million euros. Once finished, the infrastructure is intended to support the development of a new 150-hectare industrial zone.
