Krakow elections see limited candidate registration

The upcoming elections in Krakow have seen significant developments regarding candidate registration. Out of 24 theoretically interested committees, only 8 have successfully fielded candidates.

Some committees reportedly registered without the intention of winning the presidency, instead using the process to promote political figures or increase social media visibility for celebrity candidates. Additionally, registration allowed certain groups to secure positions on electoral commissions.

Among the successful candidates is Daria Gosek-Popiołek, representing a party with approximately 7% national polling support. Despite her party's established structures, she narrowly met the requirement of 3,000 signatures. On the left side of the political spectrum, Aleksandra Owca is noted as a candidate with significant support among young residents of Krakow.
