Pope Leo XIV opens registration for 2027 World Youth Day in Seoul
Pope Leo XIV has officially launched registration for the 41st World Youth Day (WYD), scheduled to take place from August 3–8, 2027, in Seoul, South Korea. In a video message released on the liturgical feast of St. John Paul II, the Pontiff described the event not as a mere sightseeing trip, but as a spiritual pilgrimage of faith, friendship, and hope.
The theme for the 2027 gathering is “Take courage! I have overcome the world.” The Pope encouraged young Catholics to bring their entire selves to the pilgrimage, including their dreams, hopes, and personal struggles. He emphasized that the event will foster unity among diverse cultures and languages, allowing participants to experience their shared identity within the Church.
Organizers have released registration guidelines, noting that participants are encouraged to register in groups. Various participation packages, including options with and without lodging, are available. This upcoming event marks a significant milestone as it will be the first time World Youth Day is held in a nation with a Christian minority.
