Religious events at St. John Paul II Sanctuary

Overview

In mid-October 2026, the St. John Paul II Sanctuary in Kraków hosted several religious gatherings. The Pontifical University of John Paul II inaugurated its 2026/2027 academic year with a Mass presided over by Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça and a homily by Cardinal Grzegorz Ryś. The ceremony included the blessing of a new campus and marked the 48th anniversary of Cardinal Karol Wojtyła’s election to the papacy.

Shortly after, the sanctuary hosted the 9th Pilgrimage of Papal Schools. This event brought together youth from the Archdiocese of Kraków for religious services led by Bishop Jan Zając and Father Tomasz Szopa. The pilgrimage included meetings focused on spiritual inspiration and integration, centered on the theme: ‘In you is hope, because you belong to the future, and at the same time, the future belongs to you’.
