Kraków launches metro pre‑project tender, secures 188 million zł funding

The city of Kraków has issued a public tender to prepare the pre‑project documentation for its first metro line. The scope includes a feasibility study, technical concept, environmental impact assessment, biodiversity inventory, building‑vibration analysis, detailed geological surveys and design of a functional‑use program. The municipality has earmarked 188 million Polish złoty in its 2026‑2031 Multi‑Year Financial Plan to cover the documentation phase, which is intended to be completed by the first quarter of 2027, with the contract signed early next year. Completion of the documentation will enable Kraków to apply for European Union funds for the larger metro investment, estimated at 13‑15 billion zł for a two‑line, 29‑station network stretching roughly 29 km. The tender is part of a broader effort to improve urban mobility and reduce travel times across the city.
