Krakow mayoral candidates outline transport reforms and fiscal proposals

Konfederacja’s candidate Bartosz Bocheńczak launched his campaign for Krakow mayor, accusing the ruling parties of monopolising city politics and pledging greater transparency. He said the city needs a fresh vision, calling for investment in artificial‑intelligence, cyber‑security and medical technologies, a tourist fee to offset visitor costs, tighter regulation of short‑term rentals, and a reduction of municipal spending – even cutting his own salary – to address growing debt.

Senator Monika Piątkowska, also running for mayor, presented a revised plan for the city’s Clean Transport Zone (SCT). She supports retaining the zone but wants to shrink its area to the inner ring road, give residents a larger say in its implementation, and earmark fee revenue for public‑transport upgrades, Park‑and‑Ride facilities and modernised infrastructure, rather than using it merely as a source of revenue.
