Krakow mayoral race draws multiple party candidates and honor committee support

The upcoming Krakow mayoral election has attracted candidates from across Poland's political spectrum. The Civic Coalition and PSL nominated senator Monika Piątkowska, while Law and Justice will run councilor Michał Drewnicki. Confederation presented Bartosz Bocheńczak, and the Confederation Crown of Poland put forward Michał Klimka. New Left and Razem also announced their contenders.

Candidate Michał Klimek unveiled an Honorary Committee of Support, including Janusz Korwin‑Mikke, former deputy mayor Stanisław Żółtek, publicist Stanisław Michalkiewicz, cultural scholar Anna Raźny, academic Agnieszka Heszen, art historian Jarosław Kazubowski, entrepreneur Piotr Klimowicz, social activist Jacek Koziński and journalist Wiesław Magiera. The committee emphasised lowering municipal costs, boosting entrepreneurial freedom and improving fiscal responsibility.

Political analysts note that Krakow is becoming a testing ground where local issues intersect with national debates, particularly concerning middle‑class frustration over living costs. The election’s outcome is being watched for signs of broader electoral trends in Poland.
