Krakow municipal housing authority opens tender for new rental apartments

The Zarząd Budynków Komunalnych (ZBK) in Krakow announced a public tender for rental apartments across the city, including districts such as Kazimierz, Podgórze and the Zakopiańska area. Interested participants must submit applications by 14 August and pay a deposit. The auction will be held on 21 August, with a starting rent offer of 25.01 zł per square metre and a minimum increment of 1 zł. Successful bidders sign a preliminary lease, carry out any required renovations, and then sign a permanent lease.

Separately, the city marked the 10‑year anniversary of its “Mieszkanie na start” program, which has allocated 406 units to young adults aged 18‑35 on preferential terms. Applications close at the end of September. Eligible renters must have a stable income, no ownership of another property, and meet other criteria. Leases run for five years with the possibility to extend to ten years, and further extensions are permitted under specific conditions, such as having a child or a foster child in the household. New buildings on Sienkiewicza 48 and 1 Maja 2 are slated for occupancy this autumn.
