Krakow spends over 5.1 million zł on Clean Transport Zone implementation

The Krakow municipal administration reported that total expenditures for preparing, launching and operating the city's Clean Transport Zone (Strefa Czystego Transportu) reached more than 5.1 million zł by the end of June 2026. The 2025 budget accounted for 2 million 440 thousand 654 zł, while the first half of 2026 saw an additional 2 million 676 thousand 289 zł spent on administration, the IT system, signage, vehicle controls and staff salaries.

The city emphasized that ongoing operating costs are not covered by fees collected from drivers; instead, those fees are earmarked for purchasing zero‑emission vehicles. A significant share of the outlay before the zone opened was directed to informational and promotional activities, including printing and distribution of materials, installation of information boards, tram advertising, city‑board displays and sponsored articles in media outlets.
