Kraków football supporter killed in brutal attack
A fatal attack in the Nowa Huta district of Kraków has sparked significant concern regarding football hooliganism and potential retaliatory violence. On the night of August 20-21, 36-year-old Jakub Ch., a prominent supporter of Hutnik Kraków known as ‘Yankes’, was brutally beaten by a group of five individuals using sharp tools and gas. Despite emergency medical intervention, he died in an ambulance.
Police investigations suggest the attackers may be linked to ‘Młoda Ferajna’, a criminal group associated with the rival club Wisła Kraków. While authorities are searching for several suspects, some reports indicate that three individuals may have already fled the country. The incident has prompted football club officials, including the president of Wisła Kraków, to pledge actions against hooliganism in stadiums.
A 16-year-old suspect, Jakub L., was initially released by a family court without preventive measures despite witness identification. However, following legal inquiries, the court subsequently revoked his leave from a juvenile reformatory, requiring his return to the facility to prevent interference with the investigation.
