Kraków football supporter death investigation

A 36-year-old Hutnik Kraków supporter, known as ‘Yankes’ (Jakub Ch.), died in an ambulance following a violent assault in the Nowa Huta district of Kraków during the night of August 20–21. In response to the violence, Wisła Kraków president Jarosław Królewski has implemented a ban on members of the ‘Młoda Ferajna’ group from entering the stadium.

Legal experts suggest the incident may trigger broader investigations into criminal activities linked to hooligan groups, such as organized crime and drug trafficking.

Forensic experts are working to determine the exact cause of death; preliminary reports suggest it may have been choking on gastric contents. In the aftermath, Hutnik Kraków president Artur Trębacz expressed hope that the incident was an isolated case and that the consequences would serve as a warning, noting that the club maintains ongoing contact with police to assess risks for upcoming matches.
