Kraków to hold second round of extraordinary mayoral elections
Kraków residents will head to the polls on October 11 for a decisive second round of extraordinary mayoral elections. The vote follows the removal of Aleksander Misalski during a May referendum, leaving Stanisław Kracik to serve as temporary president.
The second round will feature two candidates selected from the first round held on September 27. According to the State Electoral Commission, Michał Drewnicki of PiS secured third place with 17.50% of the vote. Other candidates included Aleksandra Owca of Razem (6.91%), Daria Gosek-Popiołek of Nowa Lewica (4.81%), Michał Klimko of Konfederacja Korona Polska (4.11%), and Sławomir Pietrzyk of Socjaldemokracja Polska (0.37%).
The winner will serve the remainder of the current term, which is scheduled to end in mid-2029. The election is viewed as a critical moment for the city's future urban and social policies.
