Krasniqi network members arrested for large-scale document forgery

Seven members of the Balkans-based Krasniqi network have been arrested or have surrendered to authorities following a joint effort by the United Kingdom and Kosovo to dismantle a sophisticated document forgery operation. The gang specialized in producing counterfeit identity documents, passports, and driving licenses that allowed illegal migrants to falsely claim nationality from more than 50 countries, including the United Kingdom.

The operation's collapse follows the imposition of UK financial and travel sanctions under a specialized irregular migration sanctions regime. The network is believed to have facilitated the movement of thousands of illegal migrants across Europe.

Those facing justice include Flamur Krasniqi, Valon Krasniqi, Arif Krasniqi, Nexhmije Selmani, Shkembim Emerllahu, Sami Duriqi, and Granit Avdyli. Specific allegations range from the production and advertising of forged documents to providing premises and equipment for the counterfeiting activities.
