Krasniqi document forgery network dismantling

Overview

Authorities in Kosovo and the United Kingdom dismantled the Krasniqi network, a Balkans-based criminal organization specializing in large-scale document forgery. The group produced counterfeit passports, identity documents, and driving licenses, enabling illegal migrants to falsely claim nationality from over 50 countries.

The operation was facilitated by the imposition of UK financial and travel sanctions under an irregular migration sanctions regime. Seven members, including Flamur Krasniqi and Valon Krasniqi, were arrested or surrendered following a joint effort to disrupt the network, which is believed to have assisted thousands of migrants in moving across Europe.
