Kırşehir watchmakers report rising demand for analog watches
Watchmakers in Kırşehir, Turkey, report a growing consumer trend toward analog watches despite the widespread popularity of smart technology. While smartwatches remain popular among younger generations due to their ability to display smartphone applications, repair difficulties are driving a return to traditional timepieces.
Local watchmakers Furkan Meral and Ekrem Oruç noted that many smartwatches, particularly those of Chinese origin, present significant challenges regarding maintenance. Issues such as broken screens, depleted batteries, and a lack of available spare parts or specialized service for certain brands make repairs difficult.
In contrast, analog watches are being favored for their durability, aesthetic appeal, and use as fashion accessories. Experts suggest that the ease of repair and long-term reliability of classic watches are becoming decisive factors for consumers looking to move away from the technical limitations of smart devices.
