Kremlin considers U.S. invitation for Putin to attend G20 summit
The Kremlin has stated that no decision has yet been made regarding whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the G20 summit in Miami this December. This follows an official invitation from the United States, confirmed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Rubio noted that the summit presents an opportunity for Putin to engage with various world leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov expressed appreciation for the invitation, stating it will be reviewed and coordinated before a final decision is reached. Peskov emphasized that Russia intends to maintain its participation in the G20 regardless of the level of representation.
Separately, the Kremlin criticized the European Union's decision to transfer approximately 1.4 billion euros in interest from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, labeling the move as illegal. Additionally, Peskov reiterated Russia's stance on the conflict in Ukraine, stating that Moscow seeks a permanent peace agreement rather than a temporary ceasefire.
