Actress Kriti Sanon has addressed the controversy surrounding a Raksha Bandhan advertisement for the jewellery brand GIVA. The campaign drew significant criticism from social media users due to Sanon’s attire and the depiction of her tying a rakhi to a pet dog.

Speaking on the chat show ‘What Women Want’, Sanon stated that the backlash highlighted a larger issue regarding the constant scrutiny women face concerning their clothing, appearance, and personal lives. She expressed particular distress over the abusive comments directed at her mother and sister, noting the hypocrisy of individuals who claim to defend culture and respect while using offensive language against her family members.

Sanon questioned why women are frequently targeted for minor choices and emphasized that the essence of festivals should reside in emotion and tradition rather than clothing.
