Kırıkkale bus crash kills one and injures 40
A passenger bus operated by Süha Turizm (license plate 38 ADF 410) traveling from Tekirdağ to Kayseri overturned on an icy road in the Karakeçili district of Kırı̈kkale, Turkey, early on 7 July 2026. Emergency services – AFAD, fire, health crews, police and gendarmerie – rescued the occupants and transported them to nearby hospitals. Forty‑one people were injured, three of them seriously. A 92‑year‑old woman, Tekmile Atasun, died despite treatment at the Yüksek İhtisas Hospital.
Kırıkkale Governor Hüseyin Engin Sarıibrahim visited the scene, ordered an investigation and urged passengers to wear seatbelts, stating, “Otobüslerde yolcu eden vatandaşlarımızın kemerlerini takmaları kaza anı açısından çok önemli.” The crash has reignited local calls for permanent engineering measures at the Karakeçili Hospital intersection, which residents say has a history of accidents.
The overturned bus was later removed with a crane, and the driver was taken into custody for questioning.
