Kırklareli resident discovers giant mushroom in forest

Necati Baycan, a 69-year-old resident of Kurudere village in the Pınarhisar district of Kırklareli, discovered a massive umbrella mushroom while foraging in a local forest.

Baycan, who was searching for meadow mushrooms near a lavender field, encountered the specimen which reached approximately 40 centimeters in height. The mushroom was so large that it would not fit into the wicker basket he had brought for his collection. Baycan attributed the unusual size of the mushroom to the high moisture levels provided by a nearby waterway within the forest.
