Kroměříž town hall tower renovation uncovers historical documents
During the ongoing restoration of the Kroměříž town hall tower, workers discovered a cache of historical documents hidden inside the tower's spire. The find consists of three metal tubes that were concealed within the spire's finial.
Two of the tubes contain files and photographs dating from 1885 and 1886, while the third contains documents, postcards, and period publications from 1906. The sealed rolls were opened at the Kroměříž Museum restoration workshop in the presence of experts.
The materials have been handed over to the State District Archive in Kroměříž for detailed examination to determine their historical and informational value. The restoration project, which began in June, is expected to cost approximately 10.5 million CZK and aims to preserve the tower's structural integrity and historical elements.
