Krug 99 Youth Forum addresses political apathy in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Krug 99 Youth Forum held a session titled ‘Youth disinterest – Choice or surrender?’ to address the low level of trust and political engagement among young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As the country approaches the 2026 General Elections, organizers highlighted a paradox: while young people are vocal critics of social and political conditions, their readiness for direct political action remains extremely low.

Muhamed Hamzić, president of the Krug 99 Youth Forum, noted that political disinterest is often mistaken for neutrality. He emphasized that non-voters are still directly impacted by election outcomes, including decisions regarding the economy, education, healthcare, and infrastructure. Nevio Bruck, president of Youth Rights – M1, added that young people must be integrated into decision-making processes at all levels, from local communities to national government, rather than being treated as a topic only during election cycles.
