KSeF e-invoicing system increases economic oversight in Poland

The implementation of the National e-Invoice System (KSeF) in Poland is introducing a qualitative shift in how the state monitors the economy. While the existing Standard Audit File (JPK) already provides significant visibility into VAT registers, sales, and purchases, KSeF is expected to increase the resolution of this oversight. Unlike JPK, which shows the results of business decisions, KSeF will capture the decisions themselves by recording specific invoice items, unit prices, discounts, and precise timing.

In the gastronomy sector, which includes over 100,000 establishments in Poland, the transition presents specific operational challenges. While most daily transactions involve simple receipts, larger orders such as corporate events or catering require formal invoices. Experts warn that the primary difficulty for restaurants will not be the issuance of the e-invoices themselves, but rather the reorganization of internal processes, document flow, and data management. Failure to adapt to these mandatory requirements could lead to settlement delays and risks to financial liquidity.
