KsTU-TUTAG threatens strike over unpaid faculty salaries

The Technical University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (TUTAG) at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has threatened to withdraw services if the government does not settle salary arrears for post-retirement contract faculty by the end of August 2026.

Dr. Bismark Quarku Parker, Chairman of the KsTU branch of TUTAG, stated that 15 post-retirement faculty members have gone up to 12 months without pay. The association warned that a failure to include these members in the upcoming payroll validation process would result in a strike. Such action would halt examination-related activities, including marking, result submissions, project supervision, thesis defenses, and graduation ceremonies.

The issue reportedly began in September 2025. Dr. Parker has called on the Minister for Finance, the Minister for Education, the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD), and the Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to resolve the matter urgently.
