Telangana political tensions rise amid BRS legal challenges

Political tensions in Telangana have escalated as the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) faces multiple legal and political challenges from the ruling Congress government.

BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) appeared before an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court regarding the Formula E race case, which involves allegations of misappropriating ₹55 crore from HMDA accounts. KTR defended the initiative, claiming the current government is targeting him for bringing investment to the state.

Simultaneously, BRS leader Manne Krishank was arrested by police following a social media post. While KTR accused the government of ‘murdering democracy’, a local court later rejected the police request for Krishank’s remand, citing Supreme Court guidelines.

In other developments, the Telangana High Court disqualified Danam Nagender as an MLA after he defected from the BRS to the Congress. Additionally, KTR has ruled out any alliance with the BJP for the 2028 Assembly elections and challenged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to an impartial probe into the assets of the BRS leadership to counter corruption allegations.
