KT Wiz nears KBO regular season title as Jang Jun-won hits 1,500th home run

KT Wiz is strengthening its position at the top of the KBO League as the regular season approaches its conclusion. During a home game against the Doosan Bears on September 20, 2026, at Suwon KT Wiz Park, Jang Jun-won hit a three-run home run in the second inning. This marked his fourth home run of the season and the 1,1th instance in KBO League history of a player reaching 1,500 career home runs.

KT currently holds a 78-4-47 record with a winning percentage of .624, maintaining a 3.5-game lead over second-place Samsung Lions. With 15 games remaining for KT and 13 for Samsung, every upcoming match is critical for the championship race. Despite facing roster gaps due to players being called up for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, the team's lineup has remained highly productive, scoring 24 runs over their last two games.
