KT Wiz set new franchise record with 82 wins

The KT Wiz have set a new franchise record for the most wins in a single season. Following an 8-5 victory against the KIA Tigers on the 29th at Gwangju-KIA Champions Field, the team reached 82 wins (49 losses, 2 draws) in the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League.

This achievement surpasses their previous record of 81 wins set in 2020. The team's resurgence is attributed to a significant overhaul of the batting lineup, which rose from a 9th-place team batting average of 0.253 last season to a league-leading 0.282 this year. Key contributors include free agent signing Choi Won-jun, who maintains a .349 batting average, and foreign hitter Sam Hilliard.

On the mound, the team stabilized its rotation during the second half of the season. After facing challenges with injuries and underperforming foreign pitchers, the mid-season introduction of Logan Allen and Daniel, alongside strong performances from Ko Young-pyo and Bae Je-seong, helped maintain their lead. KT Wiz currently holds a three-game lead over the second-place Samsung Lions, with the magic number for the regular-season championship reduced to seven.
