Kütahya opens new archaeology museum and security center

Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy has inaugurated the Kütahya Archaeology and Mining Museum, a facility that consolidates five distinct themes: archaeology, city and ethnography, ceramics, mining, and children's museum studies. The museum aims to preserve the region's historical layers, ranging from the Phrygians to the Ottoman Empire, and will house a collection of 62,701 artifacts, with approximately 3,300 on display.

During his visit to Kütahya as part of the “Turkey Century Meetings,” Ersoy reported that 612 million lira has been invested in the city's culture and tourism sectors over the last 24 years. He noted significant growth in tourism infrastructure, stating that licensed accommodation facilities increased from three to 75, and bed capacity rose from 324 to 4,407.

In Manisa, Ersoy also opened the Aerial Monitoring and Security Center for the Sardis Ancient City and Bintepe Lydian Tumuli. This center utilizes advanced technology, including long-range drones with night vision capabilities, to protect the 75-square-kilometer archaeological landscape from illegal excavations and looting.
