Kütahya sees rising interest in traditional calligraphy courses

Traditional calligraphy (Hüsn-i Hat) courses held at the Diyanet Youth Center in Kütahya are seeing increased interest from both students and adults. Following a period with approximately 50 registered students, organizers expect participation numbers to rise in the new term.

Instructor and calligrapher Ahmet Türk, the Imam of Yeşil Mosque, teaches the fundamental rules, writing techniques, and intricacies of this traditional Turkish-Islamic art. Türk emphasized that the craft is passed down through a master-apprentice relationship and noted its global significance, mentioning that individuals travel to Istanbul to seek certification from master calligraphers.

Türk, who received his certification in 2015 under calligrapher Mahmut Şahin, noted that the program aims to introduce younger generations to the art form to ensure its preservation for the future.
