KTMB apologizes for major train delays following signalling disruption
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has issued an apology following a signalling system disruption between Kalumpang and Kuala Kubu Bharu that caused significant delays for KTM Komuter and ETS services. The disruption, which occurred during scheduled Rawang-Ipoh double-tracking upgrading works, resulted in delays of up to five hours for certain routes, including the KL Sentral-Butterworth ETS service.
Preliminary investigations indicate the disruption was caused by a damaged system component that sparked, affecting the signalling system. While repair works were completed by 5:15 AM, some services continue to experience approximately 30-minute delays due to ongoing issues along the Batang Kali route.
KTMB has stated that full fare refunds will be provided to passengers who chose not to continue their journeys due to the disruption, subject to standard procedures. The operator also provided food and beverages to passengers stranded on delayed trains and sent SMS notifications regarding the service interruptions.
