KTMB Extends Shuttle South Rail Service to Paloh, Boosting Johor Commuter Links

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) announced that the Shuttle South rail service will be extended to Paloh, with additional stops at Kluang, Renggam, Layang‑Layang, Kulai, Kempas Baru and JB Sentral. The new schedule begins on 8 August 2026 and provides ten trips per day – five each way – with a capacity of up to 400 passengers per train. The journey between Paloh and JB Sentral takes roughly 120 minutes.

Fares on the Paloh‑JB Sentral route are reduced from RM15.30 to a promotional RM7.70 for a one‑way trip, and free rides are offered to children aged four to six, primary‑school students and persons with disabilities. The extension is part of a strategic initiative by Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport to link suburban areas directly with the main economic hub at Kulai and JB Sentral, supporting daily commuters, including those travelling to Singapore, and aiming to stimulate local economic activity while reducing reliance on private vehicles. Since its launch, the Shuttle South service recorded 3,209 passengers on its initial routes, indicating strong public uptake.
