Kuala Lumpur police arrest e-hailing driver for petrol attack
Police in Kuala Lumpur have arrested a 59-year-old e-hailing driver in connection with a violent attack in Kepong on August 9. The suspect is accused of dousing a 62-year-old woman with suspected petrol and setting her on fire at a lottery premises.
The victim sustained burns to approximately 50 percent of her body and was treated at Kuala Lumpur Hospital in critical but stable condition. According to Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus, the suspect admitted to the act, citing dissatisfaction with the victim.
Authorities seized several items during the arrest, including a bottle containing suspected petrol, a helmet, clothing, and a motorcycle. The suspect has been remanded for seven days to assist in investigations under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
