Kuala Lumpur police seize RM8.3 million in drugs

Kuala Lumpur police have seized drugs valued at approximately RM8.3 million during a raid on a condominium unit in Kuchai Lama on August 9. The seizure included 79.95 kg of methamphetamine and 28.69 kg of ecstasy pills.

A 36-year-old foreign national was arrested during the operation. While the suspect reportedly holds a Canadian passport, authorities are working to verify his exact citizenship, noting he is believed to be a Vietnamese national. The suspect, who has no prior criminal record, has been remanded for 11 days to assist in investigations.

Police believe the premises served as a storage and distribution hub for the local market since the beginning of the year. Investigators are currently working to identify suppliers, intermediaries, and other members of the distribution network. A vehicle valued at RM85,000 was also seized under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988.
