Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon 2026 draws 43,800 runners
The 18th edition of the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM 2026) concluded in Kuala Lumpur, drawing 43,800 runners from 53 countries. The event returned to its historic location at Dataran Merdeka and served as an official early selection trial for marathon athletes for the 2027 SEA Games.
In the IHH 10km category, Malaysia’s Muhammad Haziq Mohd Hairol Izmi won the Men’s Open with a time of 33:54. Kenya’s Mercy Jebiwott claimed the Women’s Open title in her event debut, finishing in 37:00.
For the Full Marathon categories, Kenyan runner Ezekiel Kemboi secured the Men’s title with a time of 2:21:19, while Ethiopia’s Alemitu Ajema Lema won the Women’s category in 2:39:29. Local Malaysian winners included Yeow Ni Jia in the Men’s Full Marathon and Esther Joy Chen Hong Li in the Women’s Full Marathon. The event also raised over RM1.1 million for charitable organizations through its Run For A Reason initiative.
