Kuantan Singingi implements food price controls and social security expansion

The Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regency government is implementing several initiatives to manage regional stability and social welfare. To control food prices and maintain community purchasing power, the local government has launched Cheap Food Stalls (Gerai Pangan Murah) in the Astaka Taman Jalur area of Teluk Kuantan, offering essential commodities like rice, eggs, and oil at subsidized rates.

In terms of social security, the Kuansing administration has allocated Rp1.7 billion for 2026 to expand BPJS Ketenagakerjaan coverage. This funding, sourced from the regional budget and palm oil revenue sharing, aims to protect approximately 10,000 vulnerable workers, such as laborers and motorcycle taxi drivers, who currently lack insurance.

Additionally, the Kuansing District Attorney's Office is increasing oversight on the construction of the former MTQ Pavilion multipurpose building. Officials from the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUPR) are working with prosecutors to ensure that both administrative processes and physical construction align with established regulations to mitigate legal risks.
