Kuching selected to host 2026 Malaysia Day celebrations
Kuching, Sarawak has been selected as the host for the 2026 Malaysia Day celebrations. The event is scheduled to take place at the Borneo Kuching Convention Centre (BCCK), chosen for its capacity to accommodate large-scale celebrations.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil stated that preparations are underway, with a follow-up meeting scheduled for August 24 to finalize details. To facilitate the festivities, 24-hour public transportation services will be provided on August 30 and 31.
In conjunction with the upcoming National Month, the Malaysian Information Department (JAPEN) is implementing several patriotic initiatives across nine clusters, including education, health, and community sectors. These include the '1 Rumah 1 Jalur Gemilang' campaign, which encourages citizens to display the national flag at their homes. JAPEN Sarawak has also engaged in media visit programs to strengthen cooperation with local organizations to promote national unity and patriotism.
