Kudakwashe Tagwirei sworn in as Zimbabwean senator

Businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei has been sworn in as a senator in Zimbabwe following his appointment by President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Tagwirei, the founder of Sakunda Holdings, was among 10 new senators appointed under Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3, which allows for the inclusion of individuals selected for their professional expertise.

Upon taking his oath at Parliament in Mt Hampden, Tagwirei stated his intention to utilize his private sector and entrepreneurial experience to support the nation’s Vision 2030 agenda. He aims to contribute to parliamentary debates regarding economic growth and the improvement of the business operating environment.

The Zion Christian Church (ZCC) issued a congratulatory message on behalf of Bishop Dr Nehemiah Mutendi, noting that Tagwirei’s background in business and community initiatives could influence national economic policy discussions. The church expressed hope that his tenure would focus on economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and job creation.
