Kudret Özersay proposes salary cuts and tech incentives in TRNC
Kudret Özersay, leader of the People's Party (HP) in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), has called for a significant reduction in parliamentary salaries. He noted that current monthly salaries of approximately 450,000 TL (around 8,500 euros) are excessively high compared to economic conditions and European averages, citing Hungary's recent salary reductions as a model.
Additionally, Özersay outlined plans to establish a technology free zone to attract foreign investment in sectors such as artificial intelligence, software, and cybersecurity. He aims to implement incentive systems similar to those used in Limassol, Cyprus, to encourage high-skilled employment and encourage the Turkish defense industry to relocate production activities to the TRNC.
