Kudumbashree records Rs 44.89 crore turnover from Onam sales
Kudumbashree, Kerala’s women-led poverty eradication mission, recorded a turnover of Rs 44.89 crore through its state-wide Onam marketing initiatives held between August 20 and 25. This figure represents an increase of Rs 4.45 crore compared to the Rs 40.44 crore recorded during the previous year.
The revenue was generated through several channels: Rs 27.01 crore from marketing fairs, Rs 2.64 crore from Onam feasts, Rs 5.17 crore from the sale of Onam kits containing essential provisions, and Rs 10.07 crore from the sale of flowers and vegetables. The marketing fairs included one state-level event in Alappuzha, 12 district-level fairs, and 1,952 Community Development Society (CDS)-level fairs, involving 43,613 micro-enterprise units and 27,509 farmer groups.
Additionally, women farmers earned Rs 10.07 crore through the ‘Onakkani’ and ‘Nirappolima’ initiatives, an increase of Rs 2.78 crore over last year. The organization also utilized its Pocketmart e-commerce application to boost product sales during the season.
